Do you carry Jerusalem in your heart?

In Psalm 122; 6-9 it says “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: ‘May they prosper who love you. May peace be within your walls, and prosperity within your palaces, For the sake of my brothers and my friends, I will now say, May peace be within you. For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek your good'.”

God has given each one of us, a priestly privilege to pray for our nation, our cities, but Jerusalem is one that every God fearing Believer must pray. Jerusalem is a great city were east meets west, a city of great contrasts, great conflicts and a great destiny. It is called a Holy city. It is indeed a unique city, both in the World and in the Heart of God.

Jerusalem has been given many names, which often reveals a prophetic destiny. The authors of scripture have given this city many unique names, as recorded throughout the Biblical history.

1. City of David 1Kings 11:27
2. City of God Psalm 87:3
3. City of Judah 2 Chron 25:28
4. City of Joy Jerem 49:25
5. City of Peace Heb 7;2
6. City of Praise Jerem 49;25
7. City of Righteousness Ish 1:26
8. City of the Great King Matt 5;35
9. City of the Lord Ish 60:14
10. City of Truth Zech 8:3
11. Faithful City Ish 1:26
12. Holy Mountain Ish 11:9

Jerusalem is called everything from the city of God to the Holy City, so this tells me that there is a lot of His story yet to come to pass in the destiny of Jerusalem.

As I walked through the city I found Jerusalem to be a dusty city surrounded by Mountains. It is a very congested, compacted city full of large and small stones, but you know there is no city like her, Jerusalem is a place of Destiny. It was King David’s capital, the home to Levites and priests, and the place where Israel’s Holy feasts are observed.

Remember the Holy Spirit was first poured out in Jerusalem, and will be once again be completed here. There are many future appointments on God’s calendar that are yet to be fulfilled.

My prayer is that Believers will arise and be Israel’s best friend in this hour, Shouting "Israel you are not alone" People whose hearts have been broken with the things that breaks God’s heart. When I was there , I saw some of the large stones that were used to built the first Temple. I wondered how they managed carrying them.

See, today, Jerusalem is a’ heavy stone to carry but God will give you grace to carry the burden. He will, because it is His Kingdom way.
I know that I have no choice than to care for Jerusalem and the destiny of her inhabitants. I want more than anything to be close to the heart of God. So I make a choice to pick up this stone and carry it with the love of Christ.

You have heard many say please pray for shalom of Jerusalem. I did a study on the word Shalom in Hebrew, it has many meanings, here are some: “To be complete” in regards to God’s purposes and plans, also means “to be restored”, meaning to enter into fullness of one’s calling. So when we pray for the peace of Jerusalem, we are actually asking the Lord to bring Jerusalem into her divine destiny and to let her be restored into the fullness of God’s calling.

If you are one of those that think “Peace” can be achieved in the Middle East without a season of conflict, suffering and even war, then you have not read God’s word. Today's current peace process has little of God’s interest in mind. There will be no peace without the Prince of Peace being in the middle of the process.

We need to pray that in order for true and lasting peace to come, the People’s eyes are to be opened to have a relationship with the Messiah. Peace is not a feeling, peace is not a condition, and True peace is a person-the Son of God, the Messiah, King of the Jews. So there can be no peace until the Prince of peace comes. Let the blinders fall off the eyes of all believers and that they will behold and embrace the beautiful Messiah Jesus.

So to pray for the shalom of Jerusalem is to pray that the Jewish people will be reconciled to God of Israel. The same is true for all descendants of Abraham, the Arabs, Jews and Gentile. The shalom of Jerusalem means that she will be completed in God’s purposes and reach her divine destiny in the Messiah. That, and that alone, is true shalom.
