The New Covenant I want to talk to you about the Covenant. See we as born again believers look at our covenant with the Lord, the times that we are living in today, and read the news about Israel, and see that all attention of the worlds is upon this tiny state, which is the Apple of God’s eyes. Yet I want to remind you that God made a covenant with His people Israel through His prophet Jeremiah
When we read Ezekiel, we see how he describes this promise God made with His children Israel: (Ezekiel 36:21-28)
I want you to see that this New Covenant was not promised to Christians, but to Gods own people, the house of Israel, and that God specifically states that this New Covenant (with Israel!) would supersede the Old Covenant He made with Israel when He took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt. God’s promise through Jeremiah is a New Covenant with a new reality. He promises that the day will come when He will put His law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I believe this will happen soon, I believe the eyes of their understanding is about to be opened. They are going to come to know Him personally. See Israel is God’s covenanted people. In Gen17:7, it says "And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you." (Genesis 17:7)" And who is like Your people, like Israel, the one nation on the earth whom God went to redeem for Himself as a people, to make for Himself a name-- and to do for Yourself great and awesome deeds for Your land... For You have made Your people Israel Your very own people forever; and You, LORD, have become their God. (2 Sam 7:23-24 NKJ) The Bible tells us that the LORD God looked down from heaven and chose a man through whom He would bring a special people into the world. This people, in turn, would be the channel through which His light and blessing would be established for all mankind. Because He is God, the LORD could have simply declared His intention to Abraham and that would have been that. In His infinite wisdom, however, because He knows the end of everything from the beginning, and because He knew who He was dealing with (His stiff-necked creation), God went "out of His way" to bind Himself to this decision by entering into a covenant with Abraham, with his descendants, and with Himself. This covenant, affirmed to Isaac and then to Jacob (and not to Ishmael or Esau), made a special people out of the children of Israel, a people God called His special treasure, the apple of His eye. Many Christian believe that since Israel rejected the Lord, that God switched His favor to the gentile church, and that His convent is no longer with His people, who are the apple of His eyes. We, because of His grace, were en-grafted into His covenant, but the original Covenant was with His people. (Israel) The Bible, of course, makes it clear that this covenant is unchangeable: we read in Jeremiah 31:35-36
