“And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:”

So let me tell you as we are living in Kingdom times, that our visions and dreams will increase, God will speak to us,  He already is. He will appear to men, women and children as He has said in His word so we need to stay hungry in our pursuit for Him. He desires to make Himself known to us. The Apostle Paul, and John the beloved, found a spiritual gateway that translated them into heavenly realms. So since they were able to, we can to. We can activate our lives to be full of prayer, praise and worship. Which helps to open the heavenly gates? The Lord desires for His Bride to live in the heavenly realm, so it can prepare the highway with heaven in mind.

You may ask me, why do we need dreams or visions at the end times, Can’t the Lord speak to us through His word or other means? Yes He can. Let me ask you a question. Why did the Lord speak in parables when He ministered to the multitudes?

Matt. 13:10-11 – 0 The disciples came to him and asked, “Why do you speak to the people in parables?”
11 He replied, “Because the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them.

Jesus told His disciples that He had given them the ability to understand the parables or the mysteries that He was speaking to the multitudes. “It has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven!” I believe the answer is the same regarding why the Lord speaks to us in dreams. He has given us the ability to understand the symbolism and to unveil the mysteries that He speaks to us through dreams. God is not limited in the ways that He chooses to speak to His people.

Numbers 12:6 – Then he said, “Hear now My words; if there is a prophet among you, I, the Lord, make Myself known to him in a vision; I speak to him in a dream.”

I do not believe that dreams and visions are limited to those who walk in the prophetic office. I believe that all of God’s people have the ability to dream and hear from the Lord.

“It shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions. And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days.” Joel :28

The Lord has promised to “pour out” His Spirit upon all flesh! There is no limitation to what we can and will do when He pours out His Spirit upon all of mankind. People who have never prophesied before will find themselves prophesying in the midst of the congregation. Children who have never had a vision will see into the realm of the spirit and declare what they are seeing to those around them. God’s people will dream dreams and have visions! All the limitations will be broken off so that the Lord can communicate His divine purposes to His people.

There are basically two different types of dreams:

1) Intrinsic Dreams: meaning that they are talking about you and what is going on in your heart. These are dreams that reveal what is going on in your life and they deal with the issues of your heart. They deal with the mind, will and emotions. They are all about you.

In Genesis 37:1-11, Joseph had two dreams which fall into this particular category.

2) Extrinsic Dreams: An extrinsic dream talks about real outer situations instead of about you.

Extrinsic dreams sometimes reveal murders, airplane crashes, earthquakes, theft, or rapes before they actually happen. Pharaoh’s dream about the fat and thin cows was an extrinsic dream speaking about the coming famine.

I personally believe that our intimacy with Jesus will have a great impact upon our ability to hear from the Lord through dreams, visions, prophecy, etc. The greater the intimacy, the greater will be our level of ability to hear, see and receive from the Holy Spirit.

Dreams:

1) Have the ability to reveal our calling or ministry gift to us.

2) Have the ability to bring correction, edification, and warning to the body of Christ.

3) Can be prophetic, revealing the future and giving us insight into what lies ahead.

4) Can place a spirit of intercession upon us or give us a burden to pray for a particular person or event so that problems can be averted.

God created man with the ability to dream and see into the realm of the spirit. Dreams have a way of bringing emotional release and stability to man’s physical body. We may not understand all the functions and intricate details of our physical makeup, but our heavenly Father thoroughly understands. He created man with the capability to communicate with him in a variety of ways. Let’s not put God in a box and give the religious excuse that God doesn’t communicate to His people in dreams and visions today, because that is not compatible with the word of God. One third of the Bible speaks of dreams and visions. If dreams and visions are not important for us in this dispensation of time, why did the Holy Spirit take up so much space in His word writing about them?

How can we interpret the dreams that God gives to us?

Daniel 2:28 – “There is a God in heaven who reveals secrets, and He has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar what will be in the latter days.”

James 1:5 – If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Dream interpretation comes from the Spirit of God. As we ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the interpretation to us, He will be faithful to respond to our request. He will reveal the meanings behind the symbols. He will unveil the mysteries that He desires to make known unto us. He will give us eyes to see and ears to hear what His Spirit is speaking through our dreams and visions.

You remember reading in Paul’s experience when he said ,he did not know whether he was in the body or out of the body when he was caught up into the “third heaven” we don’t often hear of such things, because the things that take place in heaven are too wonderful for man to speak because they would be past our ability to comprehend into our earthly realm of existence, it would be difficult to grasp the wonders of heaven. That’s why the Lord wants us to come up higher, just as He said to John come up higher, otherwise John would have missed the heavenly revelation the Lord gave him.

When we think of God, it is difficult to understand His greatness of an infinite God? He is God, He spoke and it was done, he commanded the winds and they were still, He created Adam from clay and breathes His breath into him, He commanded darkness into light. His presence brings peace. That’s why Paul cried out “That I might know Him”.

Religion will make you complacent, stiff-necked and rebellious. Complacency is the enemy of spiritual hunger for it robs us of all desire. Without a desperate desire to know God, there will be no manifestation of God. We learn to love because God first loved us. When we love God passionately with our whole heart, barriers are removed and the distance of eternity fades away. As a true lady must wait for romantic pursuit; so the Holy Spirit waits for our desire for Him to grow until we pursue His face with our whole heart.

We behold the invisible God, face to face in perfect consciousness when we live and breathe in holy desperation of His undying presence. Each morning our soul thirst for God, we gaze up into His beholding face as our thankful prayers ascend into His presence. Once we see the beauty of the Lord, we will reveal Him.  Just as God stood and revealed Himself to Moses in a cloud of glory proclaiming His names, character and nature until Moses' face shone with God's transcendent light. Even after the experience Moses had, he was unsatisfied and had more hunger for God. He said that I may know you. Don’t forget he was called a friend of God, with whom God spoke face to face. How much more should we hunger for Him.

We know that Elijah stood before the Lord of host with a spiritual authority that was profound. He mentored and passed that spiritual authority and awareness onto Elisha who cultivated it until he was able to receive twice the spirit of Elijah. Elisha's prayer urged his spiritually blind servant to look towards God. When he lifted his fearful gazed heavenward his natural eyes were opened to see the angelic host encamped about.

Samuel ushered in a new order that both heard the Word of God and saw the Lord appear in vision form. Enoch's walk was engrossed in maintaining a perpetual quest where he explored the rich depths of the new manifestations of God's infinite being.
Stephen was full of faith, grace and power to perform miracles. As the religious leaders who were void of power threw stones that crushed his bones and tore his flesh, Stephen fixed his gaze on an open heaven and saw Jesus proudly stand to usher him into eternity.

We must learn to encounter God in our daily walk with Him, we are designed to walk and talk with the divine King, to feel His breath of the Holy Spirit and brush of angel’s wings upon our faces. So don’t content for the natural realm, step into the spiritual realm of Glory.
