The Catastrophes are coming.

As I look around our nation and the world, I feel like we are living in the time of Sodom and Gomorrah, and as in the time of Abraham God spoke to Abraham “Time had run out for Sodom, and its sister city Gomorrah ”But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the Lord Exceedingly. Gen 13:13

I believe the Lord is saying the same to us today”Time has run out”. We are going to be facing some great Catastrophes, and please remember God does not desire these things but we have opened the way for the devil to do what he wants to, as we have turned away from the Lord and His ways.

God did not want to hide from Abraham what was about to happen, for the Lord said “I know Abraham, he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord to do justice and judgment, that The Lord may bring upon Abraham the things that he hath spoken of him”

God does not reveal His secrets to merely curious nor inquisitive, many today want to know from God without knowing Him, they spend less and less time with Him, yet they  want the secrets  of God. God is speaking to those who He knows to prepare for the times we are headed into. God is revealing to us , so that we can draw back to His ways.

The Lord, in his communing with Abraham, told him that Sodom is about to be destroyed. Gen 18:20-21”And the Lord said. Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous, I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me, and if not  I will know”. The cry of Sodom has come up to heaven. Its wickedness is of an appalling nature that the demands of Divine justice will permit no further delay. Never the less, the Lord will do nothing until the case has been given full investigation. And He said prayers and intercessions made for the city will be considered, Abraham was given to understand that his intercessions will avail, if he could find ten righteous in the city.

God is calling us today and saying that if we will repent and intercede for this world and our nation, so that God may turn His face from our sins.

1.Abraham began his prayers by asking “Wilt thou destroy the righteous with the wicked?” He did not pray that Sodom, whose wickedness has offered the long suffering of God, be spared, nor that the law that the wages of sin is death, be set aside. No prayer of the righteous can prevent the wicked from going to judgment. The grapes of wrath, when fully ripe, must go into the winepress.

2. Abraham drew near the Lord. An Intercessor must be near the Lord, must have a standing with Him. Only when one lives in the presence of God can feel the true value of a human soul. The church today needs a drawing to God and He will draw nigh in you.

3. Abraham reasons with God. : That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?” Gen 18:25. Abraham is concerned with the integrity of God, but in a different way than the skeptic. Skeptics think God is full of vengeance, rather than Mercy and Love. Because of that he reasons with God saying “Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?”

See God derives no pleasure from death of the wicked. Ezek 33:11 Still the law of sin and death is one that cannot be repealed. The very foundations of the universe would crumble if such were to happen. That is what the devil wants, the suspension of the law of sowing and reaping. But God’s law is always right and just. As the voice of righteous cries out in Rev 19:2 “For true and righteous are His Judgments, so humanity knows God’s ways are altogether right and good. While God cannot clear the wicked, nevertheless. His mercy goes further than that of man.

So the question is , could Sodom have been saved/ The answer is that even as wicked as Sodom was there were possibilities that the city could be spared from destruction.

*Sodom could have been saved if the people had seen the power of God in operation. Matt 11: 23-24” And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shall be bought down to hell, for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the Day of Judgment, than for thee” See Capernaum saw the works of God and repented not. But Jesus said that if Sodom had had this opportunity. “It would have remained until this day” In other words, if the miracle of the ministry of Jesus had been performed there, the people would repent.

*Sodom could have been saved if there were ten righteous in the city”Gen 18:32 “And he said, oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once. Peradventure ten shall be found there, and he said. I will not destroy it for ten sake”

*Abraham was pining his hope upon the chance that there were ten righteous in the city. Why did Abraham stop at the number ten? Because had a reason to believe that the number could be reached. First there was Lot and his wife. Poor back slidden soul that she was, God was willing to include her in Abrahams counting, then his two unmarried daughter, his two married daughters, his two son-in –laws, and his two sons or grandsons.

The petition was not getting threw what was wrong. The men that Lot’s daughter had married were men of Sodom. Abraham was sad, as he saw that things were worse with Lot then he thought that his nephews’ had disregarded all warning and had remained in Sodom.

I believe just as Lot had ignored all the warning, many today are living in the times thinking God will take care of them and they are avoiding all of God’s warnings, they won’t let go of their pride, and they desire for wealth. Many are bound in their ways, they need to submit themselves to the deliverance of God. Before we end up like Lot and loose every thing, let us repent and listen to the ways of our Lord
